Dr Somnath Chatterjee is a well-established, experienced Clinical Anaesthetist and Intensivist. His MBBS is which he obtained in 2001, and his MD in Anaesthesia, which he obtained in 2005, were both from JIPMER, Pondicherry. After M. D. Chatterjee worked as a Senior Resident in Department of Anaesthesia in JIPMER for a year, he went on to pursue further education in the United Kingdom.
Dr. Chatterjee developed expertise in Anaesthesia and Critical Care in the UK, he undertook this training at Wigan and Leigh Infirmary for 18 months. He subsequently trained as a Registrar at the Coventry School of Anaesthesia He attained his Fellowship in Anaesthesia from the Royal College of Anaesthetists in 1998 and became the inaugural Research Registrar in the Department of Anaesthesia at Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust, under the auspice of the Royal College of Anaesthetists. In 2003, he took up a Consultant appointment in Anaesthesia and Critical Care at the Heart of England Foundation NHS Trust to practice in Thoracic and major Vascular Anaesthesia after completing his Registrar rotation and Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training.
In 2006 Dr. Chatterjee came back to India and joined Manipal Hospital Bangalore (Airport Road) as Head of the Department of Critical Care. He spent five years there, nine months of which he spent serving as Head of Emergency Medicine. He joined JurongHealth as a Senior Consultant in Critical Care in 2012, and helped develop the infrastructure and clinical services of the 1,100-bed Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, a new facility of Singapore’s Ministry of Health.
In 2019, Dr. Chatterjee came back to Bangalore and became part of the management and clinical team at Prakriya Hospitals. His field of work encompasses clinical quality and excellence, education, airway management, and innovation in Anaesthesia and Critical Care.
